Code of Conduct

Last updated: 17 March 2025

Our Values

  • Respect: Treat everyone with dignity, regardless of background or experience level.
  • Honesty: Keep profiles, advice, and feedback authentic.
  • Accountability: If you book a session, show up. If you can't, communicate early.
  • Generosity: Mentors give their time freely. Every interaction should honour that.

Expected from Everyone

  • Communicate professionally and respectfully at all times.
  • Be punctual and fully present during sessions.
  • Honour commitments. Cancel only when necessary and always with sufficient notice.
  • Keep session content confidential.
  • Report behaviour that violates this Code to the platform team.

Mentor Standards

  • Represent your experience and expertise accurately.
  • Keep your availability up to date.
  • Come prepared to give focused, actionable advice.
  • Never solicit payment or promote paid services during sessions.
  • Treat mentees with patience and empathy.

Mentee Standards

  • Come with a clear goal or specific questions.
  • Be on time. Missing a session without notice wastes a mentor's time.
  • Treat mentors respectfully. They are volunteers, not on-demand consultants.
  • Award Karma Points genuinely.

No-Show Policy

Showing up is one of the most basic forms of respect on Codebasics Angels. Every missed session without adequate notice wastes another person's time and lowers trust across the community.

  • What counts as a no-show: Not attending a confirmed session, or cancelling within 3 hours of the scheduled start time.
  • Who it applies to: Both mentees and mentors. Either party can be marked as a no-show by the other after a session.
  • Consequences: Accumulating 2 or more no-shows in a calendar month will result in a temporary suspension of your Codebasics Angels account. Repeated patterns may lead to a permanent ban.
  • Mentee no-shows: When a mentor reports a mentee as a no-show, the mentee's no-show count is updated and visible to the platform team.
  • Mentor no-shows: When a mentee reports a mentor as a no-show, the report is reviewed by our team and the session is marked accordingly.
  • How to avoid it: If you need to cancel, do so more than 3 hours before the session. Open communication is always better than a silent no-show.

Unacceptable Behaviour

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind.
  • Misrepresenting your background or qualifications.
  • Using sessions to pitch paid services or recruit.
  • Manipulating Karma Points through fake sessions.
  • Sharing another user's session content or personal information without consent.

Enforcement

Violations may result in a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent ban depending on severity. All decisions are made at the discretion of the Codebasics Angels team.
